The Alleghenies Tourism Council was established as a recognized advisory committee of Southern Alleghenies Planning & Development Commission in 1995. Generally, the council is comprised of representatives from seven Convention & Visitors Bureaus (CVBs), two locally elected officials, one representative from the heritage community, a representative from the economic development community, a representative from the planning community, and a representative from the PA Office of Travel & Tourism.
The objective of the ATC shall be to promote and develop the economic welfare of The Alleghenies through the support and development of the tourism industry.
The Council serves as a catalyst adn forum for the development and delivery of integrated tourism program. This will be accomplished through effectively utilizing resources of the officially designated CVBs within the region, and recognized shareholders and partners for development, planning and implementation.
The vision held by the Council is that The Alleghenies will be recognized as one of the Nation's premier outdoor recreation and heritage tourism destinations.
