The Rock Run Recreation Area, a premier multi-use, motorized recreation area in northern Cambria and southern Clearfield counties, officially opened for business in May 2007 and has already attracted over 2000 visitors from eight states. The park has created an enormous opportunity for economic and community development in its surrounding communities.
SAP&DC is helping those communities take advantage of this opportunity by sponsoring the Rock Run Regional Visioning Project that will guide the communities through an intensive two-month visioning process resulting in a regional vision statement and 20 year action plan. Community members in the following 17 municipalities surrounding the Rock Run Recreation Area are encouraged to share their ideas and opinions at one of the upcoming public meetings or by contacting their representative on the project’s Multi-municipal Regional Steering Committee (MRSC).

The regional vision statement and action plan will give the Rock Run Region a detailed road map to achieving a unified economic and community development goal for the area and its unique individual communities. The action plan will prioritize projects creating regional, public-private partnerships to secure implementation funding. Additionally, the visioning process will build the leadership capacity of community leaders to deal with economic and community changes.
The action plan will identify at least one feasible project for each community as well as regional projects. It will also outline a funding strategy and timeline for each project ensuring the success and feasibility of the action plan and its components.
