Building on a Regional Conference held in 2005, SAP&DC is working with five state agencies to develop a regionally approved Transportation, Land Use, and Economic Development Strategy/Action Plan.
The SAP&DC is beginning a new regional planning initiative in conjunction with: DCNR, PennDOT, DCED, DEP, and the PA Department of Agriculture.
The Transportation, Land Use, and Economic Development Project will build on a statewide conference held in 2003 and a regional conference held in Altoona, PA in 2005. In 2005, more than 60 regional leaders developed a common vision for the Southern Alleghenies Region of Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Fulton, Huntingdon, and Somerset counties.
With the Transportation, Land Use, and Economic Development Project, SAP&DC will develop a strategy and action plan. The Plan will include background and analysis, short-term priorities, long-term objectives, course of action, implementation, and performance evaluation.
Public outreach activities are key to this project. Six Public Meetings were held in the Spring of 2007. These meetings provided valuable input from local government officials, local businesses and residents.
