Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Services

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Program provides the region’s local governments and non-profits with accurate, reliable geographic and cartographic information for planning, decision making, and project implementation.

SAP&DC is committed to maintaining an updated computerized GIS system so that public agencies, organizations, and individuals have accurate, reliable cartographic and geographic information. 

The Commission’s GIS system is capable of producing mapping products, providing analysis to support planning and decision making, and creating databases for a wide variety of applications.

SAP&DC’s Planning and Community Development Division staff uses the latest technology to provide high quality mapping products and GIS analysis. 

SAP&DC maintains a library of GIS data and maps for use by local governments and non-profit organizations.

The Planning and Community Development staff uses GIS software to illustrate and analyze a wide variety of regional projects.  SAP&DC also facilitates a GIS Users Group (GUG) to promote and expand GIS in the region. 

SAP&DC offers a variety of GIS services:

  • Map design/layout
  • Map printing
  • Maintained library of GIS layers
  • GIS analysis and planning

GIS services are available for the following counties:

  • Bedford
  • Blair
  • Cambria
  • Fulton
  • Huntingdon
